No. 16 Tulane Bowling Captures Sonic Boom Tournament Title
Nov 14, 2021 | Women's Bowling
JACKSON, Miss. – The No. 16-ranked Tulane University bowling team closed out the fall portion of its 2021-22 campaign on a high note, as it claimed the Sonic Boom Tournament crown on Sunday.
Tulane's winning performance in the Sonic Boom Tournament marked the Green Wave's fourth Top 3 performance of the fall campaigne.
"Our main goal coming to this tournament was to win and to grow as a team," head coach Hayley Veitch said. "We certainly achieved our goals this weekend and we added a program first of bowling a baker 300 game! Every member of the team contributed to our performance and it was nice to see people step into new roles."
The Green Wave entered the final day of competition seeded second in the tournament bracket. Tulane then reeled off a five-frame win over Alabama State to advance to the championship round against Louisiana Tech.
Tulane would go on to secure a five-game victory over the Lady Techsters too claim the title.
Sophomore Morgan Gitlitz led the way for the Green Wave, as she posted a team-best 234.50 average.
As a team, Tulane finished with 13,211 total pins and recorded an average of 203.2 per game.
The Green Wave will open the spring portion of their 2021-22 campaign on Jan. 8, as they head to the Stormin Blue and White Vegas Classic.
