LAS VEGAS – No. 13 Tulane Bowling had an impressive outing on the final day of the Storming Blue and White Vegas Classic. Tulane started bracket play seeded eighth but took down Monmouth and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore en route to a seventh-place finish.

"We were a little rusty after a long break however the team showed signs of improvement on day 3," said Head Coach Hayley Veitch. " It wasn't our finest performance, and we have work to do to prepare ourselves better for our next competition."
The Green Wave showed strength and resiliency on Sunday as the team had their best performance of the weekend. Tulane knocked down a total of 3,681 pins on its last day of competition, an average of 204.5 per game.
Tulane opened bracket play against the seventh seeded University of Maryland Eastern Shore. The Wave got off to a slow start dropping the first two games 183-153 and 222-196, respectively. The Green Wave wouldn't stay down long, scoring over 200 and winning the next three games to bring the total to 3-2. With two games left in the match, the Wave knocked down 235 pins in game six just two shy of the win. With the match on the line, the Olive and Blue would fall one pin short of the win 193-192. The Hawks took the match 4-3.
Coming off the tough loss, Tulane showed mental strength in their win over Momouth University. The two teams traded blows, with Tulane landing the first punch 199 to 162. The Hawks claimed game two 192-188, but Tulane fought back to take game three (199 to 195). Tulane took the next two games with a score of 193 both times, capping a 4-1 match over Monmouth.
Tulane carried that momentum into its redemption match with UMES. Starting off slow again the Wave would drop games one and two only to sweep the last four game 233-205, 221-147, 229-223 and 185-169. The Greenies took the match 4-2 securing a seventh-place finish in the tournament.
"We will take away the positive of a win against McKendree which was a very competitive match," said Veitch.
Tulane will return to action Friday, January 28 at the PVAM Invitational. The event will feature many familiar faces including conference competitors and ranked opponents.
