No. 17 Tulane Completes First Day of USBC ITC
Apr 16, 2026 | Women's Bowling
GREEN BAY, Wisc. – It was a full day of action for the 17th-ranked Tulane bowling team Thursday at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley as the 2026 United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) got underway. The Green Wave notched the No. 11 seed after the morning's qualification portion, and Tulane went 1-1 to start bracket play.
Â
The qualification portion of the event saw each of the 16 teams bowl 24 Baker games. Tulane totaled 4,278 pins through its 24 games. In the first block, the Wave bowled games of 200-146-174-135-189-204-213-189-166-180-193-207 for a total of 2,196, which had Tulane in seventh place halfway through. The final 12 games for Tulane were 180-157-151-201-177-168-159-166-164-180-176-203. The Wave tallied a score of 2,082 in the final block of games for its final tally of 4,278, which earned Tulane the No. 11 seed for the bracket portion of the event.
Â
The remainder of the tournament is conducted in a double-elimination bracket with games played via the best-of-seven Baker format. The bracket is split into two eight-team sides, the red and blue brackets. Tulane as the 11th seed is in the blue bracket and opened up against sixth-seeded Lindenwood in the first round, outlasting the Lions in a tight 4-3 shootout.
Â
In round two, the Wave faced off against No. 14 seed McKendree, the No. 15 team in the nation. The Bearcats pulled out to a 3-0 lead, but Tulane stayed alive with a win in game four. However, McKendree put the contest away in the fifth game to notch a 4-1 win.
Â
The defeat does not eliminate Tulane, who now falls to the losers' bracket. The Wave will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9:45 a.m. against the winner of tomorrow morning's opener between No. 15 seed Trine and No. 7 seed Cumberland. That contest is scheduled for 7:45 a.m. A Tulane victory would advance the Wave to play again at 1:00 p.m. against one of Louisiana Tech, Lindenwood, or Mount Mercy. Â
