
Lexie Douglas, Kayla Dinkins Earn All-Conference Honors

NEW ORLEANS โย Tulane redshirt senior outside hitterย Lexie Douglasย and senior middle hitterย Kayla Dinkinsย were both named to the 2021 All-American Athletic Conference Team, the league announced on Tuesday. Douglas earned first team honors and Dinkins claimed a spot on the second team.ย

This is the fourth consecutive year that the Green Wave have had multiple players named all-conference and the third straight season that Tulane's representatives came in Douglas and Dinkins.ย

Douglas led Tulane with 347 kills and was averaging 2.99 kills per set playing in every match this season. The graduate student led the Green Wave with five double doubles this season and was third in digs with 263, averaging 2.27 per set, while also being second in points with 403.5.

"I couldn't be prouder of Lexie," head coachย Jim Barnesย said. "She has left a lasting mark on our program and build it into what it is today."

Douglas earned 264 of her kills in league play, where she averaged 3.43 kills per set and hit .262 against conference opponents. Douglas ranked 10thย in the conference in kills per set, eighth in total kills and 11thย in points with 403.5, averaging 3.48 per set.

After shining in her first three years in Uptown, Dinkins put together a senior campaign that was strong both offensively and defensively in the 2021.

The Pittsburgh native landed 18thย on the AAC blocking list with 85 this season, averaging .79 blocks per set. The middle blocker spent the season climbing the program leader boards. Dinkins was fourth in block assists with 376 and sixth in blocks per set with 1.1 in her career. She was second in total blocks for the Green Wave throughout the season trailing the first place by only seven blocks.ย

"Kayla has been a force in the middle her entire career and this season was no different," Barnes said. "She is one of the top players in the league and has been a major part of our team."

Dinkins was third on the team in kills with 263, averaging 2.44 per set. Dinkins, lead the Green Wave hitting .332 on the year which is the seventh-highest in the American Conference. In league play, she was hitting at a clip of .330 with 190 kills and 2.47 kills per set average, while having 62 blocks and averaging .81 per set.
