
Palacios Places Second; Tulane Finishes Fifth at Lake Oconee Invitational

GREENSBORO, Ga. – The Tulane University golf team placed fifth at the Lake Oconee Invitational Sunday with a team score of 47-over 911.
The Green Wave closed the tournament with a season-best round of 9-over 297 in Sunday's final round. The Olive and Blue posted scores of 312 and 302 in the first and second rounds, respectively. The 302 in the second round was the lowest score by any team on the second day.
"Today was a solid round by everyone on the team, especially by Carlota [Palacios] who finished second individually," Tulane head coach Stew Burke said. "I'm happy with how we played, and we are going to continue to make progress. We'll be home for the next three weeks to prepare for the Sugar Bowl and look forward to hosting teams from around the US to compete safely on our turf next month."
Sophomore Carlota Palacios led the team as she tied for second individually with a total score of 3-over 219. She logged her best round of the season in the second round with a 1-under 71. She posted scores of 2-over 74 in the first and third rounds. She had a team-best 10 birdies on the tournament, including five in the second round.
Senior Jennifer Rosenberg closed the three-day event tied for 11th at 9-over 225. Rosenberg posted her best round of the season with an even-par 72 in the final round. She logged four birdies in the final round and nine for the tournament. Rosenberg registered a 2-over 74 in the first round Friday.
Junior Isabella Cardenas placed 28th with a total score of 15-over 231. She posted rounds of 3-over 75 in the second and third rounds of the tournament. Cardenas carded five birdies in over the three rounds.
Sophomore Sandra Vazquez tied for 43rd at 20-over 236. She closed the tournament with her best round at 4-over 76. She logged three birdies over the three rounds.
Freshman Miriam Emmert finished tied for 60th at 25-over 241. She recorded six birdies during the three-day event.
North Florida took the team championship at 34-over 898, while Old Dominion finished second at 36-over 900. Tournament host Mercer's Payton Schanen took the individual title at 1-over 217.
The Green Wave will be back in action on Sunday-Tuesday, March 14-16, as they host the All State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf Course.
