
Tulane Athletics Tops 2020-21 Helper Helper Community Service Hours Rankings

2020-21 Helper Helper Final Report
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Athletics took yet another step forward in its community service efforts and recorded the most combined hours among all NCAA Division I schools in the Helper Helper rankings for the 2020-21 academic year, as Green Wave student-athletes combined for more than 6,000 hours of total service.

Overall, the Green Wave finished fifth overall in the NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Challenge that took place January through April.

"With completing over 6000 hours of service during a global pandemic, our student-athletes, coaches, and staff embody Tulane University's motto of 'Non sibi, sed suis (Not for oneself, but for one's own),'" said assistant athletics director for student-athlete enhancement Dr. Cornell Sneed. "Finishing this year with the most community service hours of any athletic department in the country, with HelperHelper, makes me extremely proud to be a part of the Green Wave Family."

Among all individual sports teams, the Green Wave's men's basketball program ranked third nationally in total hours behind only Georgia Southern's men's soccer and men's tennis programs, respectively.

In addition to men's basketball, Tulane posted multiple first-place finishes as the baseball, beach volleyball and women's swimming and diving programs also claimed top honors in their respective sports. Men's tennis placed second and volleyball finished third, as the football, women's golf, women's track and field and women's tennis teams posted respective fourth-place finishes.

Tulane beat out the UL Lafayette, Pittsburgh, Louisville and South Alabama who placed in the top five among NCAA Division I schools in total hours of service. North Dakota, Michigan, Boston College, Miami (Fla.) and UAB rounded out the top 10.
