Jun 18, 2021 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University director of tennis Mark Booras has been selected as coach of the United States Tennis Association's 2021 Summer Collegiate National Team.
"This is a great honor to be chosen by the governing body of American tennis to work with these top collegiate players," Booras said. "They've selected a great group of student-athletes who embody collegiate tennis and are great ambassadors for their schools both on and off the court. I'm really looking forward to getting out there to work with them."
The team will be represented by the 2021 NCAA singles champion Sam Riffice of the University of Florida, 10-time ITA All-American William Blumberg of the University of North Carolina and two-time singles All-American Alex Kovacevic of the University of Illinois. J.J. McNally and Cannon Kingsley of Ohio State University, who also earned All-America accolades in 2020, round out the roster.
The team will compete in a series of professional tournaments during the summer months beginning with the Tulsa Futures 25k on June 14. The group will then compete at the Edwardsville Futures and Cary Challenge July 19 before heading to the Champaign and Lexington Challenger events July 26. The tour ends at the Decatur Futures event beginning August 2.
Booras completed his 12th season as head coach of Tulane's men's team during the 2021 campaign and led the Green Wave to their fifth straight NCAA Tournament appearance. He has over 150 career wins during his tenure while coaching four ITA All-Americans in singles and 19 all-conference honorees.
