Women’s Track and Field, Men’s Basketball Teams Earn Academic Award from League

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University indoor and outdoor women's track and field teams and men's basketball team earned the Team Academic Excellence Awards from The American Athletic Conference, the league announced Thursday.
This award is given out annually to the team with the highest cumulative GPA among all teams in the conference.
The Green Wave women's outdoor track & field teams finished the year with a cumulative GPA of 3.570, while the indoor team logged a 3.548 GPA this season. The men's basketball team posted a cumulative GPA of 3.31 in the 2020-21 season.
Thursday marks the eighth and ninth such honors for the Green Wave track and field teams. Tulane's women's track and field teams as a whole won the award in 2015, 2018 and 2019. In 2017, the trio of women's indoor track & field, women's outdoor track & field and women's cross country were named Team Academic Excellent Award winners.
This marks the second time the men's basketball team took hoe the award with the first coming in the 2017-18 season.
