Green Wave Volleyball Captures 2021 Tulane Invitational Crown

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University volleyball team posted a 3-1 victory over University of California Golden Bears 3-1 (25-23, 28-26, 25-16, 25-22) Saturday afternoon at the Avron B. Fogelman Arena in the Devlin Fieldhouse.

With the win, Tulane improved to 3-0 and captured the Tulane Invitational and picked up its first win over Cal in program.

Offensively, the Green Wave got a complete performance from nearly everyone on the roster on Saturday to the tune of a .308 hitting percentage with 52 kills on the afternoon.

On the defensive side of the ball, Tulane held the Cal Golden Bears (2-1) to a clip of just .213 hitting and totaled seven team blocks.

Freshman Michelle Urquhart led the way for the Green Wave offensively, as she totaled a team-high 15 kills. Sophomore Anna Davis also chipped in for the Green Wave with 10 kills. Freshman Chelsea Harvey paced the team with 38 assists.

Defensively for the Green Wave, Jillian Dits totaled 12 digs, while redshirt senior Danyelle Williams paced Tulane with a pair of blocks.

Tulane returns to action on Sept. 2 as it heads to Tallahassee, Florida, where it will begin play in the Florida State Tournament against VCU, beginning at 10 a.m. Tulane will then faceoff against Florida State (Sept. 2) and Samford (Sept. 3).
