
Tulane Drops Match Two of the Green Wave Invitational in Three Sets

BIRMINGHAM, AL โย Tulane Volleyball (6-5, 0-0 AAC) drop a three-set match to Texas Tech (9-3, 0-0 Big-12). The Green Wave took on the Red Raiders in the second match of the invitational on the campus of the University of Alabama Birmingham. Tulane couldn't get control of the intense Red Raider offense.ย

The offense was led by freshman outside hitter Michelle Urquhart. The current AAC leader in service aces had 11 kills on 31 total attacks. Senior Yvette Burcescu added 7 kills herself, hitting at .385.ย

Freshman setter Chelsea Harvey assisted in 22 kills and picked up four of her own.ย

Tulane failed to take a set in this match. After battling back and forth the Red Raiders went on a 5-0 run, leaving Tulane down 14-9. A kill from Harvey sparked the Green Wave's offense before they dropped the set 25-20.

Tulane dropped the second set 25-11. The Olive and Blue were held to a -.097 clip combined on six total kills.ย

Set three showed more promise as the Green Wave took the first two points of the match. The Red Raiders fought back aggressively going on four three-point runs to separate themselves from Tulane. A string of errors by Tulane padded the Red Raiders score allowing them to take the set 25-17.ย

The Green Wave ended the match with a .149 combined hitting percentage.

Tulane will be back in action Sat. at 2:00 p.m. inside Bartow Arena to take on the University of Alabama Birmingham (3-4, 0-0 C-USA).
