Women's Tennis Finishes First Day of ITA All-American Championships
Oct 1, 2022 | Women's Tennis
CARY, N.C. - Tulane University women's tennis's Adelaide Lavery stunned Oklahoma's Ivana Corley in the pre-qualifying round of the ITA Women's All-American Championships on Saturday morning. Corley came into the match as the round's second seed.
After dropping the first set (3-6), Lavery rebounded and took the second (6-4) to force a third. Winning in the third (7-5) and taking the match, Lavery moved on to the round of 64, beginning tomorrow, where she will face Duke's Elizabeth Coleman at 8 a.m. CT. Coleman topped Texas A&M's Jeanette Mireles 6-3, 7-5 in her first match.
Lahari Yelamanchili also competed in singles, losing her match versus Oregon's Uxia Martinez Moral, 6-4, 6-2.
Lavery paired up with Kristen Borland in the afternoon to take on Wyoming's Sophie Zehender and Ana Fernandez Villa. The duo dropped the match 8-5.
This is the first time in Tulane history that the Green Wave has had a doubles team in the main draw, a doubles team in the pre-qualifying round, and a singles player in the pre-qualifying round.
