
Barber Splits in Singles to Begin ITA Southern Regionals for Tulane

BATON ROUGE, La. – Junior Cora Barber kicked off competition for the Tulane Univeristy women's tennis team on Thursday in the Singles Qualifying Draw of the ITA Southern Regional Championships. Barber finished 1-1 on the day after winning her first match of the tournament before falling in the second round.
The Frankfurt, Germany, product began her day against Adrea Widing of Troy in the singles qualifying draw round of 64. Barber put together a strong performance in her first match of the tournament winning in two sets (6-1, 6-4) to advance to the round of 32.
In the round of 32, Barber squared off against Paige Wise from Northwestern State with a chance to advance to the round of 16. She battled through two sets before ultimately dropping the match 3-6, 2-6.
The Green Wave will have four doubles teams in action on Friday for Doubles Main Draw. The duo of Charlotte Russell and Lahari Yelamanchili has a bye to the round of 32 while the pairings of Lily Walther/Barber, Brooke Theis/Kristen Borland, and Adelaide Lavery/Jiayun Zhu will begin play in the round of 64.
