
No. 17 Bowling Goes 2-1 On the Final Day Of The Dezy Strong Classic To Secure Fifth

Coram, New York – The No. 17 nationally ranked Tulane University bowling had a thrilling 2-1 day on the third and final day of the Dezy Strong Classic on Sunday at Coram Country Lanes to earn fifth place among a very competitive and talented field that featured eight other ranked teams including four schools currently in the top-10.The team ended the tournament with a 9-4 overall record.
"This was a solid performance this weekend beating teams from the Northeast," explained Coach Veitch. "I am pleased with our win-loss record, and we definitely improved overall as a team. It wasn't the easiest of lane conditions, so it definitely showed our strengths and weaknesses. We will hone in on a couple of key items before we leave for Houston on Thursday."
The program started the day falling to Mount St. Mary's 4-1. The individual game scores were 169-217, 177-202,171-162, 195-211 and 202-216. The combined score was 1008 for Mount St. Mary's and 914 for Tulane.
The second match of the day saw Tulane pull off the 4-2 victory over Sacred Heart. The individual game scores were 165-173, 155-158, 200-176, 207-176, 197-174 and 228-156. The combined score was 1152-1013 for the Green Wave.
In a rematch of the first match of the day, Tulane came away with the 4-1 win against Mount St. Mary's. The individual game scores were 155-184, 202-135, 236-201, 201-157 and 205-151. The combined score was 999-838 in favor of Tulane. The win allowed the Green Wave to secure fifth place in the tournament.
At the end of the tournament, Morgan Gitlitz was officially honored with a place on the Dezy Strong Classic All-Tournament Team after placing fourth among all 118 competitors with her 1060 pins and average of 212.
Tulane next heads to the Track Kat Klash from November 4-6 hosted by Sam Houston State.
