Green Wave Battling in Two Northeast Regattas

KINGS POINT, N.Y. – In the opening day of a pair of regattas, Tulane University Sailing has put itself in the hunt, competing in Round 1A of the Open Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championships and the Stu Nelson Women's Fleet Race on Saturday.

The Green Wave landed in fifth with 121 points at the conclusion of the first day at the Open Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championships in Kings Point, New York. A solid performance out of the B Division by Ciara Rodriguez-Horan, alongside Gillian Perrell and Kit Stoll, paced the Wave as the group finished fifth in the division with 55 points. Over in the A Division, Cameron Giblin teamed up with Andrea Riefkohl-Gonzalez for 66 points to land eighth through the first eight races.

In the Stu Nelson Women's Fleet Race, Tulane finished the day in seventh with 160 total points. The Green Wave was paced by Lucy Spearman and Abigail Borggaard with 44 points through eight races to land sixth in the C Division. The team of Mia Hanes and Essie Clifton also finished eight races for 62 points to land eighth in the B Division. Meanwhile, in the A Division, Caroline Benson and Ellie Spearman finished 11th with 54 points.

Tulane will be back on the water tomorrow morning to close out Round 1A of the Open Atlantic Coast Dinghy Championships and the Stu Nelson Women's Fleet Race.
