
Football’s Dorian Williams Named as Finalist for 2022 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy

Greenville, S.C. – Tulane senior linebacker Dorian Williams was recently named as a finalist for the 2022 Blanchard-Rogers Trophy, the South Carolina Football Hall of Fame (SCHOF) announced recently. The Blanchard-Rogers Trophy honors South Carolina's most outstanding college football player (or SC's Heisman) for the 2022 season.
Each finalist was either born, grew up or played at one of the state's high schools/or college football programs in the state of South Carolina.
The Blanchard-Rogers Trophy is named after Heisman Trophy winner Felix "Doc" Blanchard and George Rogers. The trophy has been used to honor the South Carolina Collegiate Player of the Year since 2016 season. The player of the year award has been given out by the SCHOF annually since 2013.
Williams, who is from Indian Land, S.C., has had an outstanding campaign for Tulane. He leads the team with his 115 tackles and 8.5 stops for loss. He is tied for the team lead with his five sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and seven pass breakups. He was named the AAC Defensive Player of the Week on Nov. 7. He also previously was a 2022 First Team All-AAC selection by the conference and a 2022 Phil Steele First Team American Athletic All-Conference selection. He also was honored with a selection to the 2023 Senior Bowl.
The other finalists for the award are Mario Anderson (Newberry College), Loobert Denelus (Benedict College), Sam Hartman (Wake Forest), Jalin Hyatt (Tennessee), Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina), Ryan Miller (Furman), Will Shipley (Clemson), Tre Stewart (Limestone), and Antwane Wells Jr. (South Carolina).
Voting for the award can be done online at scfootballhof.org and open through January 10, 2023. The winner will be honored at the 10thh annual Enshrinement Ceremony on April 21, 2023 at the Hilton in Greenville, S.C.
