
Tulane Women’s Tennis Sweeps Past Louisiana-Monroe, 7-0

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University women's tennis team returned to the winner's circle as it defeated in-state foe Louisiana-Monroe 7-0 Friday afternoon at the City Park Tennis Center. With the victory the Green Wave improved to 4-2 on the season and 4-1 in home matches.
"Proud of the team for the way they responded through some adversity in the wind," head coach Maria Brito said. "We are very excited to get on the road tomorrow for a top-15 match opportunity."
Adelaide Lavery and Brooke Theis got the Wave out to a strong start in doubles competition claiming the first win of the day 6-3 over the Warhawks. The duo of Lahari Yelamanchili and Charlotte Russell quickly followed with a 6-4 victory of their own to clinch the doubles point for Tulane.
Lavery carried the momentum into singles play for the Green Wave as she notched the first singles point with a two-set win 6-2, 6-3. Tulane got its third point of the day from Kristen Borland after she recorded a two-set win of her own 6-1, 6-3. Yelamanchili clinched the match for the Wave by winning a tie-break in the second set and earn her fifth singles victory of the season. Tulane closed out the day with singles wins by Russell, Jiayun Zhu and Cora Barber to post a final score of 7-0.
Up next, the Green Wave will hit the road to face the 13th-ranked Auburn Tigers on Sunday, February 20. The match between Tulane and the Tigers is set to begin at 12 p.m. CT. Fans can follow along with live scoring by clicking HERE.
