Beach Volleyball Goes 2-0 on Day One of Skyhawk Beach Invite

MARTIN, Tennessee - Tulane beach volleyball (14-7) swept the competition on day one of the Skyhawk Beach Invitational hosted by the University of Tennessee Martin.
Tulane started off the day by sweeping Ottawa University – Arizona. The most dominant victory came on court three with Sara Hall and Ashton Mares only allowing eight points in a single set.
Haley Gibson and Savka Popovic only let OU score ten in each set in their victory.
Sophie Gammarino made her first appearance in the Green Wave lineup joining freshman Emily Heintzelman as the five pair. The duo got a match victory 21-12, 21-11.
In the afternoon Tulane took on the tournament host and won 4-1.
Playing as the top pair this season were Lara Torruella and Samantha Mehlmann who dropped the only match of the day.
The Green Wave takes on Missouri State and Liberty in the final day of action tomorrow.
