Tulane Sailing Set to Race in the Navy Spring Regatta
Apr 15, 2022 | Sailing
NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing COED team will hit the road this weekend to compete in the Navy Spring Regatta hosted by the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday and Sunday. The Green Wave will be among 16 teams racing in the regatta.
"The Coed team is ready to get back in action in Annapolis this weekend for some fleet racing," assistant coach Jocelyn Rovniak said. "While this will be the first fleet race of the spring season for the coed team, I expect a strong performance across both divisions. We've had some really good fleet race practices leading up to the event in a variety of conditions so the team should be prepared to put together a strong event!"
The Tulane COED crew is coming off a conference championship following a first-place finish in the SEISA Team Race Championship last weekend in New Orleans. The Wave posted a perfect 9-0 record to dominate the regatta over Baylor, North Texas, and Texas.
This weekend, the Navy Spring Regatta will feature 16 teams including eight which finished in the final fall Sailing World College Rankings. Four of those teams competing, including the Green Wave, landed in the top 10 of those fall rankings.
Racing in the regatta is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on Saturday and 8:20 a.m. CT on Sunday.
Up next, the Green Wave sailing women's team will race for a national championship as it travels to Providence, Rhode Island, to compete in the Women's Team Race National Championship April 23-24.
