Dear Next Wave,
Â
You are about to begin one of the most exciting and rewarding journeys of your life.
Â
I can still remember the butterflies in my stomach when I first arrived at Tulane for my freshman year. Starting over and moving far from home can be intimidating yet exciting. Each day is going to be a new opportunity to overcome your goals, chase your dreams, and make memories.
Â
In your sport, you will grow and develop as a player and teammate. You will be pushed to become your best self and you will learn what it means to have the amazing chance to compete with Tulane on your back with the support of your teammate, coaches, and an entire department of athletics. The memories of winning with your team will carry with you and will motivate you day in and out.
Â
As a student, you will be given all the resources and opportunities you need to succeed and make it to where your goals take you next. School at Tulane is not easy, but a degree from Tulane is very rewarding and will set you up for great success in your future. I recommend taking advantage of every resource offered to you and don't hesitate to reach out for help when you need it.
Â
As a college student, you will make some of your greatest friends along with memories that will last a lifetime. Talk to the people in your classes, makes friends with the others that live around you, and support your fellow student-athletes. Having great friends in your circle makes the experience just that much more special. I encourage you to take advantage of all that New Orleans has to offer. Try new food, explore the city, and go to all the festivals you can, because these next few years will go by quickly.
Â
While it's my time to begin a new chapter in life, I will always look back on my experience as a student-athlete at Tulane with nothing but gratitude. The memories I've made, lessons I've learned, and opportunities I've been given have shaped me into who I am today. This experience goes by fast, take advantage of every opportunity and make these next year's everything you want them to be and more! Roll Wave!
