Tulane Opens Competition in the Battle at the Beach

DESTIN, Fla. – The Tulane men's tennis program began play in the Battle at the Beach by posting a 2-4 record for the day after splitting in singles competition on Friday.
The Green Wave squared off against the Florida State Seminoles in doubles action. Both Wave duos (Alex Bancila/Rafael de Alba & Benji Jacobson/Luc Hoeijmans) put up strong fights on the doubles courts but ultimately finished without a victory.
Over on the singles courts, Tulane split its four matches against Middle Tennessee. Hoeijmans and Jacobson earned the two wins of the day for the Green Wave. On court one, Hoeijmans defeated Marcel Kamrowski in three sets while Jacobson won two hard-fought sets over Shu Matsuoka on court four.
Up next, the Green Wave will continue competition in the Battle at the Beach on Saturday, while another squad for Tulane begins play at the Southern Miss Invitational in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
