Green Wave Registers Sweep over Visiting Jaguars

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane women's tennis team cruised to a 7-0 sweep over visiting Southern University Saturday afternoon at City Park Tennis Center.
The Olive and Blue improved to 1-2 with the win, while Southern dropped its first tilt of the season (0-1).
The Green Wave began the afternoon by closing out all three doubles matches in short order. The tandem of Lahari Yelamanchili and Kristen Borland won 6-3 in 27 minutes, followed by Adelaide Lavery and Jiayun Zhu's 34-minute triumph by a 6-4 tally. Cora Barber and Brook Theis closed out the sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 3 in a contest that lasted 42 minutes.
Southern's Agye Mintah retired at No. 6 singles after just three games to give Barber the early victory. The rest of the Green Wave's contingent won in straight sets, with Borland closing the proceedings 6-4, 6-0 against the Jaguars' Olivia Jenkins.
Tulane is back in action Saturday at 1 p.m. when ULM visits City Park on Saturday. The Warhawks are 1-2 this season with a 4-3 win over Missouri State and a pair of 4-0 losses at LSU.
