
Green Wave Finishes Eighth & 15th in Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University sailing wrapped up a pair of road regattas on Sunday finishing eighth at the Atlantic Coast Women's Championships Round 1B and 15th in the Danmark Trophy Open Fleet Race.
In St. Mary's City, Maryland, for the ACC Women's Championships, Tulane finished with 285 total points to land eighth overall among 17 teams. Sammie Gardner led the Green Wave on the waters of the St. Mary's River in the A Division with 140 points to land eighth in the division. Carolina Benson and Ellie Spearman also finished eighth in the B Division with 145 total points through 17 rotations.
Tulane posted 337 total points through 14 rotations to finish 15th among 20 teams in the race for the Danmak Trophy. The Green Wave landed 14th in the A and B Divisions. Skippers Thad Lettsome and Zander King raced with crews Hope Breslin, Gillian Perrell, and Alex Makoid to tally 175 points in the A Division. Over in the B Division Tulane ended 162 points behind the racing of skippers Hamilton Barclay and Kelly Holthus with crews CJ Ricci and Perrell.
Up next, the Green Wave will hit the road again for two regattas on Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8. The Tulane coed squad will race in the Open ACC Semifinals in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while the women's team compete in the Stu Nelson Trophy Women's Fleet Race in New London, Connecticut.
