
Tulane Hits the Road for Weekend Regattas

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane University sailing team will be on the road this weekend for a pair of regattas in the northeast from Saturday, October 7, to Sunday, October 8. The Green Wave coed team will race in the Open ACC Semifinals in Cambridge, Massachusetts, while the women's squad will compete in the Stu Nelson Trophy Women's Fleet Race in New London, Connecticut.

Tulane finished sixth in both regattas last fall. The Wave posted 227 total points among 18 teams in the Open ACC Semifinals and ended with 259 points among 13 teams racing for the Stu Nelson Trophy.

In Open ACC Semifinals Round 1B this weekend the Green Wave will compete among 17 other teams on the water. Included in the field will be the defending open dinghy national champions the Stanford Cardinal along with eight other teams, including Tulane, that raced for the national championship in the spring. Representing the Wave on the water this weekend will be Hamilton Barclay, Hope Breslin, Abigail Borggaard, Kelly Holthus, Gillian Perrell, CJ Ricci, and John Wood. The regatta will be hosted by Harvard in the Charles River Basin with races beginning at 10 a.m. CT Saturday and 9 a.m. CT Sunday.

The race for the Stu Nelson Trophy will be hosted by Connecticut College on Saturday and Sunday. Competing for Tulane this weekend will be Ava Anderson, Cate Anderson, Caitlin Briggs, Megan Cassidy, Ella May Corckran, Oakley Cunningham, Mia Hanes, Sloane Mullin, Ellie and Lucy Spearman. The racing for the regatta will take place on the Thames River. Racing for the Stu Nelson Trophy is also set to start at 10 a.m. CT on Saturday and 9 a.m. CT on Sunday.Â
