Green Wave Claims Third-Straight SEISA Women’s Fall Championship
Oct 29, 2023 | Sailing
AUSTIN, Texas – Tulane University sailing claimed another SEISA Fall Championship on Sunday as its women's team won its third consecutive SEISA Women's Fall Championship title. The Green Wave recorded five first place finishes in 12 total races in the regatta held on the waters of Lake Travis.
The Tulane women's squad finished with a total of 23 points through six rotations in both the A and B Divisions. The Wave's final tally was 16 points better than the second-place finisher, Texas A&M.
The regatta victory by the women's team matched the same feat of the Green Wave coed team on Saturday as both squads earned their third-straight SEISA Fall Championship title.
Skippers Oakley Cunningham and Audrey Permenter with crews Sophia Adams and Caitlin Briggs paced the performance for the Wave in the A Division. Cunningham and Adams got the action started for Tulane in the A Division before the combination of Permenter with Briggs finished first in their final four races. Tulane finished with just eight points to sit atop the A Division.
In the B Division, the Green Wave tied at the top of the division with 15 points matching the score of Texas A&M. Skipper Ava Anderson and crew Cate Anderson combined to post Tulane's only first place finish in the division in the first race. Mira Herlihy took over as the skipper for the remaining five races with Cate Anderson.
Up next, Tulane will be represented by freshman Hamilton Barclay in the ICSA Match Race National Championship in Charleston, South Carolina, from November 3-5.
