New Orleans, La. - Tulane Women's Tennis has signed the No. 29 and No. 31 top national recruits to their 2023 signing class. The signees include incoming freshmen Campbell Ricci and Summer Chandler.
Campbell Ricci is a 5-star recruit that comes to Tulane ranked No. 1 in Nevada and as the No. 29 top recruit nationally. The Las Vegas native lettered three years at the Odyssey Charter School, helping the Owls win the team state title each year she played there. Ricci also claimed two doubles state titles and one singles state title as the No. 1 starter on the Owls women's tennis team. As an individual, Ricci is a three-time Nevada 5A State Champion in singles in 2023 as well as doubles in 2022 and 2021, was a recipient of the Prestigious Bronze Ball recipient at the Easter Bowl Girls 16s doubles in 2023 and was a finalist in the inaugural Universal Tennis Rating National Championships in 2021. In addition to her impressive finishes, she has also won three sportsmanship awards and has spent a lot of time giving back to the tennis community by serving as a volunteer coach at clinics and gathering used tennis equipment for distribution to underserved communities.
Summer Chandler is a 5-star recruit that will come to Uptown as the No. 4 recruit in New York and No. 31 top recruit nationally. The New York native boasts an overall record of 39-15, including a 13-4 record against other 5-star recruits and a 13-1 record against 4-star recruits. Chandler has also accumulated five wins over blue-chip players. In 2022, Chandler collected two singles titles at the J5 Kingston Tournaments in Jamaica.
"We couldn't be more thrilled for Campbell and Summer to join our Tulane family," said head coach Maria Brito. "Both are top national recruits that could have played at any school, but they believe in our vision, and they want to continue to elevate the program. They're incredible competitors but even better people so we are excited to have them join us next year."
