
Football’s Shedro Louis Named LSWA Player of the Week

Baton Rouge - Â Tulane's football team saw Shedro Louis named as the Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Player of the Week, the organization announced recently.
Louis returned four kicks for 159 yards (39.75 per return) and a touchdown in the 24-22 victory over Tulsa over the weekend. Louis returned the kickoff to start the second half for 100 yards and a touchdown. It was Tulane's first kick return for a touchdown since 2019, the first 100-yard kick return for the program since 2003 and the eighth 100-yard kick return in school history. Louis also ran for 26 yards and caught passes for 10 yards for a total of 195 yards in the game.
On the year, Tulane has been honored by the LSWA a total of nine times. Michael Pratt has been named the LSWA's Offensive Player of the Week three times (9/4, 10/23 & 10/30). Jesus Machado was named the LSWA Defensive Player of the Week (9/25). Devean Deal was named the Defensive Player of the Week (10/2). Kam Pedescleaux was named the Defensive Player of the Week (10/16). Will Karoll was named the Special Teams Player of the Week (10/16) and Valentino Ambrosio was named the Special Teams Player of the Week (10/30)..
Tulane's defense leads the conference and is ranked fourth nationally in rushing yards allowed per game at 82.3. The squad also ranks fourth in the conference and 33rd in the country in sacks at 2.50 per game. The program ranks fifth in AAC in turnovers gained at 16. Individually, Lance Robinson leads the conference and is placed ninth in the country with his four interceptions. Darius Hodges and Patrick Jenkins are ranked fourth and seventh in the conference in sacks, respectfully. Valentino Ambrosio is placed second in the conference with his 1.50 field goals per game. He also ranks fourth in the league in field goal percentage (78.9). Lawrence Keys III leads the AAC in yards per catch at 18.15. Keys is also 10th in the league with his seven touchdowns scored. Jha'Quan Jackson is fifth in the conference in yards per reception at 17.54. Chris Brazzell II is placed 11th in the league in yards per catch (16.34). Makhi Hughes leads the conference in rushing with 1,008 yards. He is sixth in the league with six rushing touchdowns. Michael Pratt is third in the league in passing yards a completion at 13.37. Shedro Louis leads the league and ranks second in the country with his average of 31.5 yards a kick return.
This week, the No. 23 CFP/ No. 17 AP / No. 17 Coaches poll Tulane football team (9-1, 6-0 AAC) is on the road and travels to Boca Raton, Florida to take on Florida Atlantic on Saturday at 11 a.m. in game that will be shown on ESPN+
