Heinzelman and Torreulla Complete their Weekend at the AVCA Collegiate Beach Championships

HUNTSVILLE, AL- The Green Wave received a bid to play in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Championships on November 3-5. Emily Heintzelman and Lara Torreulla were chosen to compete for Tulane.Â
Day one of the tournament consisted of pool play to determine placing in Saturday and Sunday's bracket play. The Green Wave pair competed against pairs from USC, Cal, and UC Davis. Tulane picked up one win in their pool, in three sets, against UC Davis.Â
The second day of the tournament consisted of bracket play. The Green Wave was placed in the consolation bracket and picked up two wins against pairs from Texas A&M- Corpus Christi and UNF. Tulane pulled off a victory against UNF winning a marathon set that went to 32 points.
Heinzelman led the team defensively fishing the day with 48 digs and two blocks. Torreulla carried the offensive front finishing the day with 42 kills and four service aces.Â
On Sunday, the Green Wave pair competed in the 37th place bracket and was defeated by UNO's Pair.Â
Tulane Beach Volleyball will wrap up their fall competition November 18th when they travel to Southern Miss to compete in the Golden Eagle's fall competition.Â
