
Kara Steele Places 32nd in the Triple Jump at NCAA East Regional

Jacksonville, Fla. – Kara Steele ended her collegiate career by finishing 32nd in the triple jump at the NCAA East Regional for Tulane's track and field program on Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. at Hodges Stadium on the campus of the University of North Florida.
Steele had a leap of 12.59m/41'3.75" to place 32nd in the event and moved up 10 spots from where she was ranked to start the competition. The top 12 advance to compete in the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships from June 7-10 in Austin, Texas. She entered the day ranked No. 42 in the East Region in the event with her 12.72m leap achieved at the AAC Track and Field Championships on May 13.
Mackenzie Callahan ended her season in the 3,000m steeplechase at the NCAA National Championships East Regional. She entered the meet ranked No. 37 in the East Region from her school-record 10:24.50 run achieved at the Drake Relays on April 26.
Next, after getting an automatic berth to the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships from June 7-10 in Austin, Texas, is Kristen O'Handley in the Heptathlon. O'Handley currently ranks No. 10 nationally in the event with her 5,802 points achieved at the Virginia Challenge on April 20. Her point total is the best in school history in the event. She was an NCAA Indoor All-American in the Pentathlon earlier in the spring with 4,277 points. Her point total is also the best-ever in the school record book.
