
Kristen O’Handley Named the Co-LSWA Field Athlete of the Year

New Orleans – Kristen O'Handley was named the co-Louisiana Sports Writers Association (LSWA) Field Athlete of the Year to highlight 11 selections to All-Louisiana teams for Tulane's track & field program.
O'Handley earned Co-LSWA after being Tulane's first two-time All-American since 2016 during the 2023 track & field campaign. She broke six school records between the indoor and outdoor seasons in the Pentathlon and the Heptathlon. O'Handley was the program's first indoor All-American since 2019. She also took home the school's first-ever AAC Most Outstanding Field Performer recognition follow competition at the conference's indoor meet. O'Handley finished seventh in the NCAA in the Pentathlon with her school record 4,277 points. She finished 15th nationally during the outdoor campaign in the Heptathlon with 5,598 points. O'Handley completed her career as the school's Heptathlon record holder with her 5,802 points achieved at the Virginia Challenge in April. She ended her career also ranking in the top-10 at Tulane in the outdoor 200m (4th - 23.48), outdoor high jump (3rd - 1.73m) and the indoor high jump (2nd – 1.78m).
The track & field program had a total of seven individual All-Louisiana recipients this season in Aaron Gilliam (men's 1500m and the 5000m), Bradley Makuvire (men's 5000m and 10000m), Arturs Lapins (men's 3000m steeplechase), Mackenzie Callahan (women's 3000m steeplechase), Maren Butler (women's shot put and discus), O'Handley (women's heptathlon) and Margot Temines (women's heptathlon).
