
Bowling’s Mia Stolakis Competing at 2023 Teen Masters Championships This Week

Detroit, Michigan  – Tulane's Mia Stolakis is competing this week at the 2023 Teen Masters Championships in Detroit, Michigan at Thunderbowl Lanes. The competition started on July 22 and goes through July 28.
This is the 26th Teen Master Championships which is part of the North American Championships.
Stolakis opened on Monday with games of 261, 215 and 233 for a 709 set. Her six-game total is 1,257. She leads the rest of the girls field by 99 pins. Stolakis is attempting to better her fourth-place finish from last year.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday have squads A, B and C competing in rotating squad fashion starting at either 9 a.m., 1 p.m. or 5 p.m. Thursday will see only the top 25 percent (the top 12 women) of the competitors on the lanes starting at 9 a.m. with match-play starting later that afternoon at 1 p.m. Friday is a singles event for those not qualified for match play.

In order to compete in the Teen Masters, all competitors must be 19 years old and younger and be an amateur in playing status.
For the completed 2022-23 season, Morgan Gitlitz led the team with 7,992 total pins. Amelia Vasquez had the highest average on the squad at 195.8, while Stolakis recorded the highest individual performance with her 266 against UMES (10/15). Tulane sported an overall 71-51 record this season.
