
No. 12 Bowling Finishes Sixth At The Northeast Classic

New Castle, Delaware – The No. 12 nationally ranked Tulane University bowling team went 1-2 against a very tough field on the final day of the Northeast Classic on Sunday at Bowlerama in Delaware. The team ended up in sixth place in a field of 34 teams with a 9-4 overall record. All three matches on Sunday went the full seven games with every opponent being ranked in the top-8 in the country this season including both teams that played for the 2023 NCAA Bowling National Championship.
Tulane started the day with a 4-3 loss to No. 6 Arkansas State. The Red Wolves played for the NCAA Bowling National Championship last season. The individual game scores were 190-156, 216-225, 158-199, 213-182, 183-227, 229-176 and 183-202.
The team then put up a 4-3 victory over No. 2 and reigning National Champion Vanderbilt. The individual game scores were 261-179, 204-217, 201-205, 223-176, 240-214, 191-256 and 243-191.
The program put up a great fight in losing to No. 7 Nebraska 4-3. The individual game scores were 246-257, 226-184, 188-227, 183-186, 225-214, 213-156 and 184-215.
Following the end of the tournament, Kristen Derr was honored with a spot of the Northeastern Classic's All-Tournament Team by finishing seventh overall.
The next time that Tulane program is back on the lanes is from February 9-11 at the Flyer Classic in Lockport, Illinois at the Strike and Spare II.
