Hoeijmans, Petrovic Power Wave in Thursday Action

BATON ROUGE, LA – Tulane's Luc Hoeijmans and Luka Petrovic each recorded singles wins and another as a doubles team to headline the Green Wave's effort on Thursday at the ITA Southern Regional in Baton Rouge.
In Thursday's singles main draw, Petrovic downed Alabama's Roan Jones 6-0, 6-4, while Hoeijmans defeated Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes of Mississippi State 6-2, 6-3.
Petrovic will see MSU's Michael Novansky in the Round of 32 on Friday at 11 a.m. Next up for Hoeijmans will be Alabama's Andrii Zimokh on Friday an hour earlier.
Doubles started earlier in the day on Thursday, with three Tulane teams in action. Petrovic and Hoeijmans defeated Samford's Sebastian Harrison and Hayden Khoo Menon 8-2 and the Green Wave's Charlie Burdell and Steven Rice took care of the Bulldogs' Ferrer Guimaraes and Marshall Landry 8-6.
Petrovic and Hoeijmans will face Alabama A&M's Tasso Moreira and Kai Cowcher at 9 a.m. in the Doubles Round of 16 on Friday, while Burdell and Rice will play Alabama's Carlos Gimenez Perez and Matias Ponce De Leon, the bracket's No. 6 seeds, at that same starting time.
Asaf Friedler and Vincent Vohl were defeated by North Alabama's Izan Orgiles and Nazar Fedoryshyn 8-6 to round out Tulane's doubles performance.
In consolation singles action, Rice took on Samford's JB Pickard and fell 2-6, 6-3 (10-5). Vohl faced Louisiana's Vasil Dimitrov and dropped a 6-2, 6-2 contest. Friedler played Louisiana's Calin Postea and lost 6-4, 3-6 (11-9), while Burdell dropped a 6-2, 6-2 match to LSU's Jamie Diack.
The tournament is scheduled to continue through Monday.
