Green Wave’s Graduation Rate Highest in State, Conference
Nov 20, 2024 | General
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Athletics boasted a Graduation Success Rate of 95 percent Wednesday afternoon, a figure that stands atop a ranking of, not only those institutions inside the state of Louisiana, but also the American Athletic Conference.
Tulane has had state's highest number every year since the NCAA began tracking GSR in 2004-05.
The Green Wave's rate is also four points higher than the national average.
Eleven (11) of the Olive and Blue's programs posted 100 percent rates for those student-athletes who enrolled between the fall of 2014 and the fall of 2017.
Baseball, men's basketball, men's cross country/track and field, men's tennis, women's basketball, beach volleyball, bowling, golf, women's tennis and indoor volleyball all met the standard of perfection.
Additionally, all of the Green Wave's programs exceeded the student body federal rate by at least 18 percent.
"Tulane has continued to uphold its standard of excellence in the classroom," said Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair David Harris. "All of our student-athletes, coaches and staff contribute significantly every year to meeting this goal. Without their hard work, none of this is possible."
Since the implementation of the GSR, Division I members have adopted impactful academic reforms and initiatives, including modifications of initial-eligibility requirements and progress-toward-degree standards, as well as application of the Academic Performance Program. Those reforms have helped pave the way for exponential graduation success.
