Bowling Places Fifth in Track Kat Klash

HOUSTON – Tulane Bowling finished the Track Kat Klash in Houston today, placing fifth out of 18 teams and knocking down a total of 12,467 pins. Tulane achieved the third-highest pin count of the participating teams, behind tournament champion Sam Houston (12,847) and runner-up Arkansas State (12,857).
Tulane also tied Sam Houston and third-place finisher Stephen F. Austin for the most amount of total matches won with 10. Tulane only dropped three matches during its outing. The team's total baker count was 4,683, its total traditional count was 4,505, and it averaged 186.1 pins per game.
Tulane won all three of its matches on Sunday, defeating Newman, Maryville, and the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). Tulane was seeded against Newman and upset the higher seeds of Maryville and UMES to secure their fifth-place spot.
Tulane defeated Newman in five games, dropping only the third game 216-186. The Green Wave took game one 208-162, game two 162-150, game four 171-146, and game five 205-191.
The Green Wave beat Maryville in six, taking games two (192-158), four (225-214), five (204-194), and six (210-202). Maryville claimed one (196-139) and three (219-182).
Finally, Tulane overcame UMES in six, winning games one (204-169), three (202-198), five (183-163), and six (217-172).
