
Tulane Completes Strong Opening Weekend in Track & Field

BOSTON, Mass. - Tulane track & field kicked off its season with a strong showing, competing in both the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University on Saturday night and the Birmingham Indoor Ice Breaker on Friday. The Wave wrapped up the weekend with an impressive 16 personal bests across the two meets.
Highlighting the weekend, Janae Dean claimed victory in the women's mile in Birmingham, clocking a personal best of 5:01.22. Reese Ragland and Anna Schadel followed close behind, finishing second and third with times of 5:01.42 and 5:01.79, respectively, to secure a top-three sweep for Tulane.
Roman Schrader earned a runner-up finish in the men's 1,000 meters with a time of 2:30.17. In the women's 3,000 meters, Macy Turcotte placed third in 10:16.57, with Allison Hall close behind in fourth at 10:17.23.
Egbe Ndip-Agbor finished third in the women's 300 meters with a time of 39.12, and Jasper Newton took third in the women's 800 meters, running 2:17.35.
In the field, Leah Kennedy earned third place in the women's shot put with a mark of 13.92m (45' 8"), while Sofie Groninger took fourth with a throw of 13.43m (44' 0.75").
In Boston, Bernard Cheruiyot finished the men's 5,000 meters with a time of 13:59.26 in a competitive field. Jordan Bendura clocked in at 14:30.19, while Wondu Summa crossed the line in 14:45.23.
The Olive and Blue will return to the track after the holidays on Saturday, Jan. 11, for the UAB Blazer Invitational.
