
Swimming & Diving’s Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou Earns Fifth in 200 Fly On Saturday at the US Open Championships

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Tulane swimming and diving team saw Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou earn fifth in the 200 fly on the third day of the US Open Championship in Greensboro, North Carolina at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Petropoulou started her day taking ninth in the preliminaries of the event with a 2:02.86. She improved her time to a 2:00.14 to take fifth overall in the 200 fly A finals.
Following the competition in North Carolina, Tulane will next send qualifiers to the Open Water Championships on December 15 in Miami, Florida. The team's Open Water qualifiers are Sydney Mullin, Lise Coetzee, Petropoulou, Phoebe Johnson and Layla Allen in the 500 free. Tulane will next be at home on Jan. 25, 2025 for a dual meet against Little Rock. The team wraps up the home schedule and regular season by hosting West Florida on Feb. 1 at 1:30 p.m. The 2025 AAC Swimming Championship will be held from Feb. 19-22 in Dallas, Texas at SMU.
