
Tulane Completes their Season Opener Invitational with a Perfect Record

ELMWOOD, LA- The Green Wave Beach volleyball team (5-0) wrapped up the Green Wave Invitational with a perfect undefeated record.Â
The Green Wave rode the momentum from their 2-0 performance the day before, clinching a 4-1 victory against Stephen F. Austin.
Kicking off Tulane's winning streak, the duo of Sara Hall and Molly Trodd dominated the court in the second flight with a commanding 21-11, 21-12 triumph. Following suit, Tawny Ensign and Lara Torruella swiftly dispatched their opponents in the fourth flight, securing a decisive 21-12, 21-12 win. This victory extended both pairs' undefeated streak to 3-0 for the season.
In the subsequent flights, Skylar Ensign and Sam Green sealed the deal for the Green Wave, maintaining their flawless record as a pair in the third flight.
All attention was riveted on the Green Wave's second duel match of the day. Tulane, boasting a flawless 3-0 record, squared off against the only other undefeated contender in the Green Wave Invitational, UNA.
The closely contested match up lived up to expectations. While UNA managed to clinch a crucial point in the second flight, the formidable pairing of Skylar Ensign and Samantha Green at flight four delivered a resilient performance, leveling the match at one apiece.
As the competition progressed to the second wave of flights, UNA surged ahead in the flight one encounter. Yet, Amelia Mullen and McKenzie Cutler rallied, restoring parity at 2-2 and intensifying the focus on the pivotal flight three showdown.
ÂMaintaining their unblemished record, Tawny Ensign and Lara Torruella emerged victorious, triumphing over UNA with scores of 21-18, 21-8.
In the final duel match of the day, the Green Wave took on Spring Hill College.Â
Tulane started the match with a quick two points from the second flight, Molly Trodd and Sarah Hall, and the fourth flight, Skylar Ensign and Sam Green. Green and Ensign are undefeated as a pair.
The Green Wave then secured the victory thanks to the flight one duo Savka Popovic and Trinity Jackson. Then, Lara Torruella and Sam O'Connor got it done at flight three.Â
To round out the perfect match, Tara Gaspar and Ainsley Patrick defeated SHC for the fives.
After a long weekend, the Green Wave will get their rest then be back in one week when they head to LSU to take part in the Tiger Beach Challenge.Â
