
Green Wave Set to Compete at Sugar Beach Bash

YOUNGSVILLE, La. – Tulane University beach volleyball (10-4) will be back in action this weekend at the Sugar Beach Bash hosted by Southeastern Friday and Saturday, March 15-16. The Green Wave will play four duals at the Youngsville Sports Complex Sugar Beach Facility.

Tulane will begin the weekend of competition by squaring off against South Carolina and Houston Christian on Friday. The dual against the Gamecocks will start at 9 a.m. followed by a meeting with the Huskies at 3 p.m.

The Green Wave is 4-11 all-time against South Carolina but has won the last two matchups against the Gamecocks. Tulane defeated South Carolina 3-2 last season at the Carolina Challenge in Columbia, South Carolina. Meanwhile, the Wave has never lost to Houston Christian holding a perfect 12-0 record against the Huskies. The last time Tulane played Houston Christian the Green Wave claimed a 5-0 victory on March 12, 2022, at the Tulane Classic.

On Saturday, the Wave will take on Stephen F. Austin for the third time this season and Boise State. Tulane won both meetings against the Lumberjacks earlier this year improving to 6-0 in the all-time series. This weekend will mark just the third matchup between the Green Wave and the Boise State Broncos. The Wave won both previous meetings including a 4-1 win in 2021 at the TCU Invitational.

Last weekend Tulane went 2-2 at the Horned Frog Challenge in Fort Worth, Texas. The Green Wave dropped the first two duals of the tournament losing 3-2 to UC Davis and 4-1 to No. 5 TCU. On day two, the Wave bounced back with a 3-2 victory over Texas A&M – Corpus Christi and a 4-1 win over Stephen F. Austin.

Following the Sugar Beach Bash, Tulane will travel west for the PCH Open hosted by Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles. The Green Wave will compete against Colorado Mesa, Pepperdine, and Loyola Marymount twice on March 23-24.
