
Tulane Sweeps Saturday at Horned Frog Challenge

FORT WORTH, Texas – Tulane University beach volleyball (10-4) bounced back on the second day of the Horned Frog Challenge to earn a pair of victories Saturday. The Green Wave defeated Texas A&M – Corpus Christi in a tight contest 3-2 before downing Stephen F. Austin 4-1.

The day started early for the Wave as it took on the Islanders for the second time this season. After Corpus Christi took the first point of the dual on court five, Tulane tied the score at 1-1 behind a two-set win by Samantha Green and Skylar Ensign on court four. Lara Torruella and Sam O'Connor put the Green Wave in the from court three winning in two sets, but the Islanders tied it back up at 2-2 with a win at court one. The duo of Trinity Jackson and Savka Popovic battled on court two after dropping the first match come back and deliver Tulane the 3-2 victory with a three-set win.

In the second rematch of the season for the Green Wave, Tulane squared off against Stephen F. Austin for its last dual of the weekend. Green and S. Ensign put the Wave in front from the start with a two-set win on court four. Tulane took a 2-0 advantage on the Lumberjacks after Amelia Mullen and McKenzie Cutler fought back to take the point on court five in three sets. Torruella paired with Tawny Ensign for the second match of the day to secure the win for the Wave by winning in two sets at court three. The pairing of Jackson and Popovic added one more point for Tulane on court two to make it a 4-1 final in favor of the Green Wave.

Up next, the Tulane will head to Youngsville, Louisiana, to compete in the Sugar Beach Bash hosted by Southeastern on March 15-16.
