Apr 14, 2024 | Women's Beach Volleyball
BOCA RATON, Fla. – Tulane University beach volleyball (20-10) battled in a pair of tight duals on the final day of the Beach Burrow Bash hosted by Florida Atlantic but ultimately dropped both contests. The Green Wave was in position to win both matches before losing the final point to fall 3-2 to No. 16 Stetson and Florida Gulf Coast.
In the first dual of the day the Wave squared off against its third ranked opponent of the weekend in 16th-ranked Stetson. Tulane fell behind initially against the Hatters after losing the points at flights five and one. Lara Torruella and Tawny Ensign put the Green Wave on the board from flight three with a three-set win before Samantha Green and Skylar Ensign evened the score at 2-2 by winning flight four in two sets. However, Stetson forced a decisive third set at flight two and eventually won the point against Sara Hall and Savka Popovic to hand Tulane the 3-2 loss.
Against Florida Gulf Coast in the final dual of the weekend the Green Wave faced an early deficit again as the Eagles won at flight one. Amelia Mullen and McKenzie Cutler answered for the Wave at flight five with a two-set win to even up the dual. After Tulane fell behind once again, Green and S. Ensign delivered their second win of the day to tie the score at 2-2. The dual came down to flight two for the second time on the day where Tulane was unable to pull out the victory in a three-set battle ultimately dropping the match 3-2.
Up next, Tulane will return home to host the NOLA Classic at White Sands Volleyball Courts on Friday and Saturday, April 19-20.
