Tulane Rolls Through Bayou Beach Duals

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University beach volleyball (19-7) extended its winning streak to five in a row after rolling to a 2-0 performance in the Bayou Beach Duals on Saturday. The Green Wave defeated cross-town rival New Orleans 4-1 to open the day before sweeping past in-stat foe McNeese State 5-0 to close the afternoon.

In the first match of the day the Wave squared off against the UNO Privateers for the 18th time in program history. The duo of Samantha Green and Skylar Ensign got Tulane rolling early as they picked up their 20th win of the season with a two-set win at flight four. Ensign tallied 14 kills, four aces, and three blocks while Green added 17 kills to earn the first point of the match.

The wins continued to roll for the Green Wave against UNO as Trinity Jackson and Savka Popovic teamed up at flight two for a win in straight set to put Tulane up 2-0. Popovic led the pair with 16 kills and a pair of aces. After the Privateers got on the board at flight one McKenzie Cutler and Amelia Mullen clinched the match victory for the Wave with their 20th win of the spring at flight five. Sam O'Connor posted 20 kills to go with five aces from Lara Torruella to deliver one more point and make it a 4-1 final in favor of the Green Wave.

Tulane kept its winning ways rolling in the final match of the day against McNeese State. For the second match in a row Green and S. Ensign combined to deliver the first point for the Wave winning in two sets at flight four. Fourteen kills and three blocks by Jackson to go with 12 kills and two aces from Popovic at flight two powered Tulane to a 2-0 advantage.

Torruella paired with Tawny Ensign against the Cowgirls at flight three to clinch the match victory for the Wave from flight three in two sets. Mullen recorded 16 kills and Cutler added 12 as Tulane picked up another win at flight five before Sara Hall and Molly Trodd completed the sweep over McNeese State with a two-set win at flight one.

Up next, the Green Wave will travel to the Sunshine State to compete in the Beach Burrow Bash hosted by Florida Atlantic on April 13-14.
