
Track and Field’s Jack Jennings Earns All-Conference Honors on the Opening Day of the AAC Championships

San Antonio, Texas - Jack Jennings earned All-Conference distinction in the 10,000m to highlight the action for Tulane's track and field team on Friday at the Park West Athletic Complex at the AAC Outdoor Championships. The team earned one All-Conference honor and saw a pair advance in the preliminaries of the 1500m on the opening day. The men's team ended the first day sixth with six points, while the women are tied for ninth with five points.
Jennings placed third overall in the 10,000m with a 30.56.98. His finish was good for six points and the program's first All-AAC selection of the meet. Ryan Adkins earned 12th with a 31:47.58. Juan Giron set a personal record with his 31:58.28 in taking 14th.
Illia Kunin was the runner-up in the preliminaries of the men's 1500m with a 3:50.66 to earn an automatic spot in Sunday's final.
Danna Diaz placed sixth overall in the women's 1500m with a 4:36.31 to qualify automatically for the Sunday's final. Reese Ragland took 16th overall with her 4:38.32, while Anna Schadel placed 20th with a 4:42.01.
The day started for Tulane with the women's 10,000m. Paula Vaquera placed fifth overall with a 37.59.93 to total four points. Her run also placed her seventh all-time in the school record books. Lily Bell ran a 38.15.13 to earn eighth place and a point. The run ranks her ninth all-time at Tulane in the event.
After the first four events of the heptathlon, Laura Fodor leads the team and is ranked eighth overall with 3054 points. She will start the second day only 11 points from sixth place. Kaia Todd is placed 11th with 2878 points with Patricija Ozolina ranking 13th with 2776 points. Todd earned eighth in the 100m hurdles (14.63), Fodor took 10th (14.87) and Ozolina earned 13th (15.07). In the high jump, Fodor was seventh (1.64m/5'04"50") while Todd and Ozolina were tied for 11th (1.52m/4'11.75"). Fodor led the team in the shot put as she placed sixth (11.22m/36'09.75"), Todd earned ninth (10.41m/34'02.00") while Ozolina took 13th (9.70m/31'10.00"). Fodor was the team's top finisher in the 200m as she placed eighth (25.94). Ozolina earned ninth (26.08) with Todd taking 10th (26.12) in the event.
Matthew Remondet placed 12th in the men's javelin (47.96m/157'04").
Kara Schiek took 16th in the javelin with her throw of 34.81m/114'2.00".
Tolu Ajayi finished 32nd in the 200m with a 25.33.
Next the program continues competing on the second day of the AAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships starting at 11 a.m. with the heptathlon long jump.
