
Banks & Williams Pick Up AAC Weekly Honors

IRVING, Texas – Tulane men's basketball junior Kaleb Banks and freshman Kam Williams both earned American Athletic Conference weekly recognition on Monday leading the Green Wave to its first 2-0 start in league play since 2021-22.
Banks picked up his third honorable mention acknowledgment of the season after averaging 22.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 blocks, and 2.5 steals in the wins over Charlotte and UTSA. The junior connected at an impressive 69.2 percent clip from the field as he led the Wave in scoring in both contests.
The Hampton, Georgia, product opened conference play with 21 points on 7-of-11 shooting and five rebounds in the 83-68 road victory over Charlotte on December 31. Banks also tallied a pair of blocks and two steals in the contest against the 49ers.
On Saturday, January 4, at home against UTSA Banks led Tulane in scoring again finishing with 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field. He also added five boards, three blocks, and three steals in the 92-63 win over the Roadrunners.
Williams earned his first AAC Freshman of the Week honor after averaging 12.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in the 2-0 week for the Green Wave. The freshman made an impact defensively as well averaging 1.5 blocks and 1.0 steal in the two wins for the Wave.
The Lafayette, Louisiana, native began the week by scoring 13 points with three makes from downtown and pulling down eight rebounds in his first career road conference game against Charlotte. Williams added a pair of steals and a block to help Tulane secure the win in the conference opener.
In the second league contest of his young career Williams finished with 11 points, including two more made threes, and four rebounds against UTSA. He also swatted a pair a pair of shots to mark his third game of the season with multiple blocks.
The Green Wave will be back in action on Tuesday, January 7, to visit UAB in Birmingham, Alabama. Tipoff between Tulane and the Blazers is set for 6:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
