Blue Comes Back To Earn 105-100 Victory in Olive & Blue Swimming Scrimmage

NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane swimming and diving held an exciting scrimmage on Saturday morning that saw the Blue team come back to defeat the Olive team on the final event by a score of 105-100. In total eight different swimmers won an individual event in the competition, while both diving event titles were earned by Elizabeth Brewer.
The day started with the Olive team of Andrea Zeebe, Ebba Holgersson, Charley Floyd and Nicole Fant winning the 200 medley relay with a time 1:47.53.
The 200 freestyle was a victory by Lise Coetzee of the Blue team with a time of 1:53.31.
The 50 freestyle's victory was earned by Rafaela Sumida of the Blue team with her time of 24.19.
The 200 IM was won by the Blue team's Gwen Shahboz with her 2:06.77.
Brewer, of the Olive team, won both the 1-meter dive (134.25 pts.) and the 3-meter dive (142.94 pts.).
The sixth event, the 100 butterfly, title was won by Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou of the Blue team in a time of 58.16.
The seventh event, the 100 freestyle, was an Olcaytu Hatipoglu victory for the Blue team in a 53.16.
The 100 backstroke was an Andrea Zeebe of the Olive team's win with a time 56.98.
The ninth event, the 400 freestyle, saw Mary Kate Kupsky swim a 4:03.97 to take the event for the Olive team.
The 11th event, the 100 backstroke, was a Paula Gaya Bisquerra of the Blue team victory with her time of 1:05.40.
The 12th and final event of the day, the 200 free relay, saw the Blue team take the late victory with a time of 1:36.83 by Eliza Lennox, Lise Coetzee, Varvara Gkiouzepa Petropoulou and Rafaela Sumida.
Next Tulane starts the regular season with two-day dual home meet against Liberty on Friday, Oct. 10, and Saturday, Oct. 11, at Reily Natatorium. The meet starts at 4 p.m. on the first day and concludes at 11 a.m.
The program finished the 2024-25 season with 54 top 10 school marks including 10 school records. The team also won six events, had 28 overall all conference marks, a placing of third overall at the league championship meet plus saw Head Coach Amanda Caldwell along with her staff being named the American's Coaching Staff of the Year. The program also had 10 qualify to participate in the National Championship Invitational this season, three divers that earned bids to the Zone D Diving Championship, had four swimmers named to the Academic All-District by the College Sports Communicators and six that were CSCAA Scholar All-Americans. Additionally the program had nine NCAA 'B' cuts, placed fifth at the CSCAA Open Water Championships and rack up 10 American Conference Weekly honors (five swimmers of the week, two freshman swimmers of the week, two freshman divers of the week and one conference diver of the week).
