
No. 19 Tulane Bowling, Mia Stolakis Both Runner-Up at SWIBC II

FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 19 Tulane University bowling team concluded its opening weekend of play with its second-straight runner-up finish in the second of two Southwest Intercollegiate Bowling Conference (SWIBC) tournaments this weekend. The Green Wave were led by Mia Stolakis, who earned a runner-up result individually as seven Wave bowlers finished in the top 20 of the SWIBC II at the Cityview Lanes.
Today, teams bowled six traditional matches. Tulane recorded a total of 4,345 pins to earn back-to-back runner-up results to begin the season. The Wave placed behind No. 9 Louisiana Tech, who won with 4,688 pins in the 10-team field. The Bulldogs, fellow Conference USA member, also claimed the team win yesterday in the SWIBC I.
For a second consecutive day, Mia Stolakis led the way for Tulane with her total score of 1,148 across six games. She placed second, earning SWIBC II All-Tournament Team honors to replicate her feat from yesterday in the SWIBC I. Stolakis was just 27 pins shy of the victor, Kylee Trexler of Louisiana Tech with her score 1,175. Opening with games of 180 and 172, Stolakis then broke over 200 with a 204. Games of 175 and 181 followed before a closer of 236, securing an average of 191.33 for the day.
Sarah Rubi notched her first top 10 as a Tulanian, placing eighth with her score of 1,091 (181.83 average) over her six games. With a 246 in the first outing, Rubi posted the highest Wave score of the day. She followed with games of 185 and 160 before a 212. She rounded out the day with scores of 135 and 153.
Emma Fetterman was just outside the top 10 with her total of 1,060, placing 12th. She averaged 176.67 for the day, scoring games of 178-210-146-161-157-208. Paige Matisek and Valeria Colon were back-to-back on the leaderboard, placing 15th and 16th, respectively. Matiasek scored games of 169-171-163-191-189-148 to total 1,031 and average 171.83. Colon posted scores of 172-161-198-165-169-154, totaling 1,019 and averaging 169.83.
Juanelyz Solla checked in at 18th with her score of 1,005. Averaging 167.5, Solla tallied games of 192-189-168-159-125-172. Lyllian Smith was 19th right behind her with a score of 993 and an average of 165.5. Smith rounds out a group of seven Tulane bowlers to finish in the top 20 of the field, which featured 65 bowlers with scores. Smith bowled games of 117-206-156-190-147-177.
Emma Figert made her season debut with a score of 922, placing 27th. Her six games of 120-148-158-152-165-179 produced an average of 153.67. Rounding out the Tulane performers is Linnea Holcomb, who was 35th with a total of 864 (144 average). She bowled games of 144-150-156-128-162-124.
The 19th-ranked Green Wave returns to action near the end of the month with the Destination Orlando, hosted by Sacred Heart. The three-day event runs from Friday, October 24 to Sunday, October 26 in Orlando, Forida.
