
Vaquera, Kunin Sweep AAC Weekly Track Awards

IRVING, TX – Paula Vaquera and Illia Kunin have earned the American Athletic Conference Women's and Men's Runners of the Week following their remarkable performances at the John Thomas Terrier Classic.
Vaquera broke the Tulane women's 3000m school record of 9:27.29 by nearly ten seconds, running a 9:17.80. She previously set the record on Jan. 18, 2025, and she now holds the first, second, and fourth fastest times in Tulane history. She is also ranked first in the AAC for 3000m by almost nine seconds. She is second in the DI South Central Region for the event. Vaquera is also fifth in the AAC in the mile.
Kunin broke the Tulane men's 3000m school record of 7:55.54, which he set in Jan. 2024, with his new time of 7:52.65. He finished 18th out of 232 in an incredibly competitive meet. He is first in the AAC 3000m by over eight seconds. His time is second in the DI South Central Region and 35th in the NCAA.
