
Kiptanui & Cheruiyot Earn All-American Honors at NCAA Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – The Tulane track & field duo of Silas Kiptanui and Bernard Cheruiyot both garnered All-American recognition for their performances at the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Championships. Kiptanui landed Second Team All-American honors in the 3000m steeplechase while Cheruiyot earned All-American honorable mention honors in the 10,000m.
On Wednesday Kiptanui got his All-American performance off to a strong start as he placed fourth in the 3000m steeplechase semifinals. He broke the Tulane program record in the event crossing the finish line with a time of 8:25.51 to punch his ticket to the finals.
Kiptanui hit the track again on Friday for the finals of the 3000m steeplechase from Hayward Field. The sophomore secured his Second Team All-American recognition by placing 10th in the finals with a time of 8:32.20.
Cheruiyot competed in the finals of the 10,000m at the NCAA Championships on Friday night. The American Freshman of the Year put on a solid showing in his first trip to the national championships as he finished 18th overall with a time of 29:24.80. His performance garnered him more accolades to conclude his first season with the Green Wave as he landed All-American honorable mention honors.
