
Cheruiyot & Kiptanui Ready to Compete at NCAA Outdoor Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – The duo of Bernard Cheruiyot and Silas Kiptanui will represent the Tulane track and field program at this year's 2025 NCAA Championships in Eugene, Oregon, on the campus of the University oof Oregon at Hayward Field from June 11-14.
Cheruiyot qualified and will compete in the 10,000m while Kiptanui will hit the track as after qualifying in the 3000m steeplechase. Both athletes will compete on Wednesday, June 11, with Kiptanui in the 3000m steeplechase prelims at 6:38 p.m. CT and Cheruiyot in the 10,000m finals at 8:56 p.m CT.
The duo earned their spots in the NCAA Championships at the NCAA East Region First Round in Jacksonville, Florida in May. Cheruiyot earned his place at the championships after he finished fourth with a time of 29:02.16 in the 10,000m. He was also named American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year after winning the 5000m and 10,000m at the AAC Outdoor Championships.
Kiptanui qualified by placing third with a time of 8:27.28 which was the seventh fastest time in the country. His performance at the NCAA East Region First Round also set the program record in the 3000m steeplechase.
