Tulane Ends Round One of Florida State Match Up Tied for Fifth

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Tulane golf holds fifth place among 13 teams in the field at the end of the first round of the Florida State Match Up hosted by Florida State at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course on Friday. As a team the Green Wave carded a 304 (+16) in the first 18 holes to sit just five strokes outside of the top three.
Francesca Pompa paced the Wave on Friday in the first round of the tournament as she posted a 73 (+1) to land tied for eighth overall. She started the day strong recording two of her three birdies on the day to shoot one-under par on the front nine.
The next player on the leaderboard after 18 holes for Tulane was Gabriella Gilrowski who shot a 74 (+2) in the first round to sit tied for 10th. She tied for the team lead on the day with four birdies recording two on the front nine and two on the back nine.
Cristina Albertazzi carded a 78 (+6) in her first round at the Seminole Legacy Golf Course to put her in a tie for 40th overall in the tournament. She matched Gilrowski for the team lead sinking four birdies on Friday.
Following Albertazzi was Matilde Innocenti who posted a 79 (+7) in the opening round to land tied for 47th in the field. Meanwhile, Ruhee Pandit rounded out the starting lineup for the Wave shooting an 85 (+13) to tie for 71st on Friday.
Competing as an individual, Lynne Zhang match Pandit with an 85 (+13) in her first round to also land tied for 71st overall.
Tulane will be back on the course for the second round of the tournament on Saturday. All six players for the Green Wave will tee off on the 10th hole starting at 8:35 a.m. CT.
