
Green Wave Secures Spot in ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship Finals

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – Tulane University finished fourth in the ICSA Open Fleet Race Eastern National Semifinals on Wednesday to advance to the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Championship in St. Mary's City, Maryland. This marks the fifth consecutive season the Green Wave has punched its ticket to the national finals in the open fleet race including a national title victory in 2022.Â

The Wave ended the championship regatta with 139 total points through 10 rotations across two divisions.

Skipper Christian Ebbin paired with crews Sabrina Anderson and CJ Ricci to lead the way for Tulane on the water from the B Division. The trio combined to finish in first in their division with a final score of 47 points through 10 races. In seven races together Ebbin and Anderson posted four finishes in the top five including a pair of first-place performances. Meanwhile, Ricci joined Ebbin on the water for three races and the pair recorded two top-three finishes including a race victory.

In the A Division, skipper Kelly Holthus teamed with crews Taylor Bartell, Parker Kumler, and Sammie Gardner to finish 10th in the division. The Green Wave sailors ended with 92 points across 10 races on the waters of the St. Mary's River. Holthus and Bartell combined for the best finish of the group in the division with one second-place performance.

Up next, Tulane will begin competition in the ICSA Open Fleet Race National Champions on Thursday, May 29. The championship regatta will also take place on the waters of the St. Mary's River and run through Friday, May 30. Racing will begin at 8:30 a.m. CT on both Thursday and Friday.
